The organizers of Shriners Children's have just announced the '2026 Shriners Children's Showdown at the Net', a NCAA women's volleyball exhibition event scheduled for September 8-9, 2026. This marks the first time the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) and SEC (Southeastern Conference) have organized a large-scale cross-conference challenge, featuring 32 top women's volleyball programs from across the United States. The event includes 16 matches, of which 14 are held on home campuses of the universities from both conferences, alternating home rights. The highlight is a special doubleheader at a neutral site – the State Farm Field House at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The most anticipated matchups are Pittsburgh Panthers (No. 1 in the nation according to AVCA poll) against Tennessee Volunteers at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and Stanford Cardinal against Texas A&M Aggies at 9:00 p.m. ET also on ESPN2. This is not only an opportunity for teams to test their strength before the regular season, but also a chance for the ACC and SEC to compete head-to-head.
